Thanks to all who supported the work and the show - it was tremendous success and a wonderful collaboration.
What the critics have to say:
“VonOrthal Puppets’ man-powered steel frame creature has a full life of its own.”

“The valiance and the whimsy that are the cornerstones of the production are crystallized in Cynthia Von Orthal and Tiffany Lange’s adorable, raggedy horse puppet, a four-legged (two-person) creature that embodies the playful spirit of the story as it gambols from one quest to the next.”
Catey Sullivan, Chicago Theater Beat READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE
“VonOrthal Puppets’ delightful, Kermit Love-like horse contraption...”

October 12-23, 2011
Choreography: Yuri Possokhov
Puppet: VonOrthal Puppets
Music: Léon Minkus
With the Chicago Sinfonietta
The Cervantes classic in the hands of a Russian choreographer. Possokhov pulls out all the stops: Bullfights, windmills and an unlikely hero in a marriage of Bolshoi ballet and earthy Spanish dance. This is a passionate ballet filled with heat and texture, flash and color, firelight and fantasy. The alluring, classical score takes on added drama as the romance and humor of the story unfolds. Possokhov’s choreography explodes with new ways to delight, entrance and make your heart melt. Performed with a full orchestra.

Our puppet, affectionately nicknamed Otis (vs. "Rocinante"), will be introduced to the Joffrey Ballet in 2 stages...
The first introduction (captured below) occurred last week, the dancers are using Otis now to learn how he functions and integrate into the choreography.
Otis will then be back in our studio briefly for detail work, fabric application and final touches.
The show will run October 12 - October 23, 2011.
